Category Description:
Old State Route 32 crosses the Peavine on a bridge in Afton. I have dubbed this the "Jeff Wood Memorial Bridge". The problem is, Jeff's not dead.

Now the problem isn't that Jeff's not dead. Matter of fact I've never met Jeff and have no reason to believe he's anything but a nice guy. But it does make calling this a memorial bridge a bit awkard.

Jeff is a long time railfan of the Peavine, and as been the organizer of more than one group to share stories and history of the Peavine. I joined his facebook group many years ago. The reason this bridge is name for him is described in the story below.

When I decided to build the Peavine Division, I knew this brdige was a scene I wanted to model. In my mind's eye, this bridge was an old concrete style with the open space between columns on the side. So I set out one day to take pictures in advance of modeling said brige.

When I arrive, that was not the bridge I found. The bridge that stands today is quite modern with solid concrete retaining walls. Not nearly as interesting a scene as I had envisioned. I put my ideas on hold.

Sometime later Jeff posted the image you see below, number 1052, to facebook. Problem solved. Evidence found. And I was right. The Rix Early Highway Bridge was the perfect model to recreate this scene.
